again

the contortions
i go through to relax myself
the folds i enfold myself in
the truths i tell myself
the false smug smiles
i give the mirror
the dance i dance
to forget myself,
lie all about you

like clothes i may never get back on again
like rain that soaks me till I'm never dry again
liek a song with no words that may never end
or sing itself to sleep again

there then,
i found a face
true enough to wear home
again i've dried my hair
and sewn folds shut
as if never again to
lie all about you
